Introduction to Dressmaking

Prerequisites

In order to attend this workshop, you should be familiar with how to use a sewing machine. If you have never used a sewing machine before, then please enrol on our 'learn how to use a sewing machine' course first.

  • How to choose the right size (the pattern covers a range from size 10 to size 22)
  • Cutting out a pattern
  • Sewing techniques
  • Pressing techniques
  • Finishing techniques
  • Making a completed garment
You will make a top that you can wear and will have developed your skills to enable you to make your own garments. This workshop is suited for individuals who have never sewn a garment before.


What's included

All equipment, pattern and notions are included, you will just need to bring your own fabric. Suitable fabrics; chambray, cotton lawn, cotton types, lightweight linen types, batiks, viscose or rayon. Please contact us for details regarding how much fabric you need to bring (this varies according to body size). There will be plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits to keep you going.
