Introduction to Dressmaking

6 hours

In order to attend this workshop, you should be familiar with how to use a sewing machine. If you have never used a sewing machine before, then please enrol on our 'learn how to use a sewing machine' course first.

Dressmaking in a day! Start the day with how to understand a sewing pattern. Learn how to take accurate body measurements to establish your pattern size and to calculate your fabric requirements. Learn how to lay your pattern out, pin and how to transfer pattern markings. The rest of the day will be used to construct your garment.

The pattern included with this class is a New Look beginner friendly top or trousers. Or if you'd prefer, contact us to arrange using your own pattern of choice.

Pattern sizes range from 32 to 44 inch bust, 25 to 37 inch waist and 34 to 46 inch hips. If you fall outside these pattern ranges then please contact us (a minimum of 7 days before the workshop) so that we can find/draft a suitable alternative.

This workshop is suited for individuals who have never sewn a garment before.
